P.E.O. is one of the oldest women's organizations in North America. It has almost 6,000 local chapters with nearly 230,000 members in the United States and Canada. P.E.O. supports women through friendships and the bonds of sisterhood and through educational scholarships, grants, awards and loans. Membership is by invitation, offering potential members the opportunity to learn about the organization and offers chapters the opportunity to get to know prospective members and explain the personal commitment and responsibilities that come with membership. Read on for more information.

Check to see if you meet the requirements for membership. Women over the age of 18 are eligible to be considered for P.E.O. membership. P.E.O. does not discriminate against any woman based on age, ethnicity, religion or education.[1]

  3. 3

Meet with members of a chapter in your area. This gives you an opportunity to learn more about the organization and gives local chapters an opportunity to explain the commitment and benefits of membership.[3]

  4. 4

Once an invitation has been extended, members of the chapter will meet with you to talk more about membership and P.E.O.'s philanthropic purpose.[4]

  5. 5

Accept the invitation to membership. A written acceptance to the local chapter must include an affirmation of your belief in God. You will be initiated by the local chapter and officially be a member of P.E.O.[5]
